Qatar Health Concluded – aiming to be annual event

qatar-health200917th December 2009 DOHA: Marking a major leap in the medical and healthcare history of Qatar, the first ever medical congress and exhibition, Qatar Health 2009 concluded here yesterday.

The success of the premier event has prompted the organisers to make it an annual medical event in Qatar.

Talks about Qatar Health 2010 are already in the air.

The five-day event had a major exhibition, attracting key healthcare manufactures and service providers from round the world, and a purely scientific medical conference which brought forth some of the pioneer doctors and physicians from different fields.

“The event has been a huge success and we will start to prepare ourselves for the Qatar Health 2010, from today. The event was a big success in terms of visitors, speakers and the exhibitors. We brought big speakers in various specialisation, latest researches in the medical domain were published and over all, we met the challenge of holding 13 tracks together. This has given us confidence for having a better and bigger event next time,” said Ridha Miladi, Clinical coordinator Hamad International Training Center and the Coordinator of the Qatar Health 2009 Exhibiton.

“Our main objective is the science rather than business; we aim to improve the healthcare in Qatar and the world. This kind of event also helps to upgrade the knowledge of our staff at HMC. Over the last three years Qatar has hosted more than 50 medical events which promted us to put together a multi-track event,” he said.

During the event a number of partnerships were signed between various bodies. Majority of the exhibitors showed satisfaction with the event as it helped them to build networks with in the region.

Cerner, company dealing in information technology and the Gold sponsors of the event, was satisfied to have built major relationships with in Qatar. “Cerner provides solutions for hospital automation and work flow, computer systems and clinical applications that support healthcare centers. We had lot of queries from companies that want to strike partnerships with us and also from hospitals like HMC and Sidra. We are hopeful to do some business in Qatar. We do look forward for the next edition of the event,” said Mario Ibrahim, Sales Manger, Cerner Middle East.

Meanwhile, some other exhibitors had settled various agreements in Qatar.

Cefla, a Italian manufacturer of dental equipments had signed three major partnerships.

“One of the major product showcased was our All-in-one dental chair which has all the instruments that a dentist needs in his clinic coming as one set. HMC dental department officials were highly interested in the device and have asked for details and hope to have some agreement in the near future. Apart from this we have got three deals in private sector with Gulf Dental Center, Qatar Lebanese Medical Complex and Al Madeena Dental Center,” said Ali Al Ahmad, Middle East Technical Adviser, Cefla.
